Eagles and Indians Find Success in Final Week Before Break
One last week of games remained as area teams juggled their semester tests and the unpredictable COVID 19 altered season. For the Paris Eagles, they opened their week at Hackett. The Lady Eagles were able to cruise to victory 61-27. Jadyn Hart (20) and Jayden Wells (19) led the way scoring. Akira Robinson added 8 points but pulled down 11 rebounds. Brailey Forst had 7 rebounds and 9 assists. It was a well rounded effort as the Lady Eagles let everyone log quarterly minutes. They closed out the week hosting Danville in what was expected to be a battle of quality conference foes. Brailey Forst scored 11 and Jadyn Hart followed up with 10 points. Jayden Wells was also in double figures with 10 points, but the Lady Eagles could not pull off the win, as they fell late 44-39. They will be off till after Christmas, when they will host JC Westside on Dec. 28.
The Paris boys put defense on display in their last two games. They held Hackett and Danville to an average of 36.5 points, winning both games. Sam Muldrow (10), Dylan Krigbaum (12), and Jesse Wells (12) were all in double figures for the Eagles in their 59-36 win over Hackett. Against Danville, Paris had trouble with turnovers, committing 15 in the win. The good news, despite a low scoring night, the Eagles scored 17 points off of turnovers they forced and held on for the 41-37 win. Caleb Cunningham was the only Eagle in double figures, scoring 11.
County Line also squeezed a couple of games into the last week of school. The Lady Indians have been on a bit of a roll since entering conference play. They won both of their matchups, with the defense smothering Ozark Catholic in a 37-13 win. They also went to JC Westside and took the win over the Lady Rebels.
For the boys, it was much the same. They outmanned Ozark Catholic 61-43 before going to Westside for a 56-41 win. They will now be off till January 5th when they return to host Hector.
