Paris area high school spring sports teams take the field
As the area teams take the baseball and softball fields and begin their seasons, none are hotter than the Scranton Lady Rockets.
After the first week of the season, the Lady Rockets are 4-0 and have outscored their opponents 58-7 over that span. Two of those games were conference games and have them atop the standings.
The baseball team is off to a solid start, holding a record or 2-2-1 and have a conference win of their own.
For the Paris Eagles, nothing has gone to plan. The bats have been cold and spoiled a few good pitching outings. The Eagles are 1-3 with a solid win over Waldron, but dropped games to Lamar, Ft. Smith Southside, and Booneville.
They will have a busy week before Spring Break, heading to Danville, hosting Scranton, traveling to Clarksville, and then closing the week at home against Cossatot River.
The Lady Eagles fared a little better, sitting at 3-2 heading into their second week.
Jadyn Hart threw a no-hitter against Magazine in her second outing, and both losses were to quality teams, including a one run losses at 7A Ft. Smith Southside and at Booneville. They will travel to Morrilton and Danville before hosting Cossatot River before the break.
Subiaco Academy got off to a strong start, taking down Lamar twice in early season meetings and tacking up a 4-2-1 record. They will head to Heber Springs and Ozark before hosting Clarksville in their last game before break.
As the season progresses, expect several well attended and highly competitive games among area teams as they all enjoy getting back on the field having lost their season a year ago.
