Area teams prepare for postseason baseball, softball tournaments
Paris ended the regular season on a high in baseball as it took down 3A-1 conference-leading West Fork, 7-4, on April 26. The two could face each other again in the Regional tournament, when the 3A-4 matches up with the 3A-1.
The Eagles used multiple pitchers for a single inning to get their bullpen some work.
In softball, Paris added some games. On the road, they took down 5A Alma. Paris matched up against northwest Arkansas foe Lincoln, with the Lady Eagles winning 8-4. They squeezed in one more tune up with Mansfield, winning 9-0, before entering tournament play, which began April 29.
LEAGUE PLAY ENDS: Area teams wrapping up conference play
Subiaco Academy (8-12-1) saw its baseball season come to a close after a 13-3 loss to Pottsville in the district tournament on April 27. On the soccer field, they are heading to the postseason to face Berryville. They enter the tournament with a 2-7-1 record, with both wins coming in conference play.
County Line and Scranton are in the same conference for baseball and softball after playing in different regions for basketball. The baseball programs are on a course to meet up for a third time in the District Tournament hosted at County Line.
Scranton knows it will advance to regionals, and County Line did enough in the early week to guarantee it will advance as well. It has been lopsided for Scranton in the regular season matchups, winning 11-0 at County Line on April 1, and then shutting down the Indians at home 10-0 on April 22. The Rockets have cruised to an undefeated conference record.
On the softball side, things have not been as competitive between the two. The Lady Rockets are undefeated in conference play and will be heading to Regionals. They bring a very experienced lineup that should help in the next round.
However, County Line has struggled, going winless in conference - hindering its chances to advance.
